As Home Builders in Western Wisconsin, we understand that building a new home for the first time can be an overwhelming experience. Many home buyers won’t consider building a new home because they believe the process is too complicated and too expensive. We walk you through the entire home building process – step by step – so you know what to expect at every junction.

At Hainstock Homes, our goal is to make the entire home building process enjoyable and rewarding. The time that our clients look forward to most is selecting the specific items that transform a newly built house into your home.

We guide you through the selection process by providing you with a timeline that outlines when selection decisions need to be completed to keep your home’s construction schedule on time. You will schedule visits to our selection design center and product showrooms.

There you will preview samples of everything from woods, stains, tiles and floor coverings, as well as appliances, plumbing fixtures and lighting.

Our 10 step process keeps you on track and on budget. See for yourself.

  1. Initial Meeting

At Hainstock Homes, designing and building your new home always starts with meeting with you and taking the time to learn about you, your family and your expectations of a new home. We believe that knowing about your lifestyle is the key to helping you select the perfect plan and even customizing it to meet your specific needs and desires. Choosing a builder is the most important part of building your home, getting to know you, your family and lifestyle is how we build your dream home.

  1. Design Phase

As we begin to learn about the design elements and features that are most important to you in your new home, we’ll guide you through the design process to create a house you’ll be honored to call home.

You can start with one of our already built floor plans, or we can design something that is uniquely yours. Whether you plan to age in place in this new home or it’s simply the first home you hope to build, we’ll design a home around the way you and your family live your life.

Every Hainstock Homes project is marked by quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and unrivaled experience.  Many can own a construction company but not all owners have hands on experience in almost every aspect of building.   Owner, Derick Hainstock prides himself on not only managing each job but also being involved in every phase of the design process.

Whether you already have a blueprint ready to build, or you need us to help you design your new home – we have you covered. We can also help with connecting you to the right people to get your project off the ground including financing and designing of your dream home!

  1. Bidding/Planning

In the final pre-construction phase, we bid out your home and compile numbers.  We present you with a complete package for review and approval.  We talk terms of payment, payment schedule, and make if official.  Then we build.

  1. Pre-construction meeting

At the Pre-construction Meeting we’ll review your design with you, answer any and all questions you might have about the process, timeline and even budget. When finished, you’ll have clear expectations about the process of building your new home. At Hainstock Homes, we are committed to keeping you informed of all progress and key milestone timetables for your new home. We strive for open and honest communication to eliminate unwanted surprises and keep your project on schedule.

  1. Foundation

Your new home transforms from a vacant piece of land to an active and working construction site. The basement is excavated, foundation footings and block or poured concrete walls are installed, and the waterproofing is applied. At this stage the first of several quality in-line inspections is conducted. During the foundation In-line inspection, several key areas are inspected by the designated professional.

  1. Framing

Your new home begins to take shape at this stage, and this is when you’ll start picking out fixtures and furnishings.  Structural elements such as lumber, engineered floor and roof truss system are delivered to your home and our crew will begin to assemble your home. Upon completion of the framing, but prior to the installation of your mechanicals, another In-line inspection will occur confirming that your home is constructed with the specific options you have selected as well as confirming the quality of the construction of your home, bearing points, room and window dimensions and elevations.

  1. Rough in Mechanicals

During the rough in phase all of your mechanicals and utilities will be roughed in. Rough-in plumbing will be installed including tubs and showers. All of your water lines and drain pipes will be installed within your walls and ceilings. Once the plumbing is complete, the heating and cooling contractor will be in to install all of the ductwork necessary to move fresh air in and old air out of each room in your home. After the heating and cooling is complete, all the electrical wires, switch boxes, light openings and phone/cable outlets will be installed in your new home.

Once all of your rough mechanicals are installed, several In-line inspections will be conducted by both Hainstock Homes, and the local municipal building department to ensure that the mechanical components, along with the construction of your home, comply with all municipal building codes. Upon the approval of all necessary inspections we will verify that those items specific to your home are installed prior to the installation of insulation and drywall.

We’ll schedule the Pre Drywall Orientation meeting at this stage. During this meeting you will walk your new home to inspect the inner workings, view the products installed, verify the optional features you selected and review the expectations and normal happenings for the remaining construction schedule.

  1. Insulation and Drywall

During this phase of construction insulation will be installed in your exterior walls and in your attic. Once your home is insulated properly, drywall installation takes place. Generally, this is a two to five day process. After the drywall is installed, there will be several days of taping and finishing the drywall so it is ready to be painted or tiled.

  1. Interior and Exterior Features

Now that the drywall is complete, things begin moving very quickly. Interior doors, trim, base moldings and cabinets are installed. We’ll conduct another in-line inspection to confirm the quality of the interior trim prior to any staining or finish painting of the interior of your home.

During this phase of construction, you will also see the remaining items on the exterior of your home take shape such as the driveway, sidewalks, porch posts, garage doors and exterior painting. Because your home is being built in an ever changing climate, these items may be completed at different stages of construction depending on the weather and time of year.

Following the inspection, the interior of your home will be painted, trim stained and varnished, flooring will be installed and counter tops will go in. Finishing mechanicals will be installed including – plumbing fixtures, light fixtures, outlets and switches and floor registers.

Your home will be professionally cleaned, carpet installed and we will conduct one more quality in-line inspection. At the completed home in-line inspection, we will ensure the home is ready for you to move in.

  1. Final Walk Thru

After completing all of the required municipal inspections, receiving a Certificate of Occupancy and completing our final quality in-line inspection, we will meet you for a very detailed walk through of your new home. During this meeting, you will not only inspect the entire home but you will also be educated on all of the interior workings of your new home.  Then we close, and you move in!

At Hainstock Homes, we take great satisfaction in not only meeting, but exceeding your hopes and dreams of a new home.

We take great pride in our continuing follow-up and response to your questions and concerns as you settle into your new home.
